19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks his first championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface from that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.

His defensive strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was over.

However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The competitors traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued four initial chances in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
