Note: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear mismatched, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his own means, entering the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could help the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This means them few options but to head to the remote area in search of the traitor.
